Translating conceptual ideas into practical, on-brand design solutions, then preparing files for distribution.

I build clean, strong, and unique solutions that are brand-consistent, work across print or digital, and translate complicated information and data into easy-to-understand design. I am a knowledgeable resource for designers, marketers, and print vendors.

Marketing needed the woman in an illustration to be more stylish, like a Nordstrom shopper. I was tasked with designing a few new outfits for her.

I’ve spent the last 16 years designing, illustrating, and art directing at Optum and Optum Rx - growing from production artist into the senior creative people came to when a project had to be clean, on-brand, and beautiful.
What a long run in one creative shop actually teaches you is how to make good design work in the real world: brand identity, editorial layouts, packaging, direct mail, and posters big as a 1983 cell phone - plus the templates, style guides, and asset libraries that keep a marketing team on-brand and in style.
I’m opinionated but easy to work with, fast without cutting corners, and still completely in love with illustration and character design. Lately I’ve been teaching myself AI-assisted creative workflows, because I want to learn how to work with AI and not against it.
Also: I bake my own bread, I sew, I have a lot of cats, and I have strong feelings about kerning.
I’m open to senior design, art direction, and illustration work - full-time, contract, or freelance.
Remote-friendly, and I’ve been doing it well for 16 years.
